I updated my primary laptop to Windows 8 Consumer Preview to see how my daily applications will work and found that the VMWare vSphere client has a problem connecting to the remote console of a virtual machine.
I updated to the latest vSphere Client for ESXi 5 Update 1 and it still is having problems. I did find a workaround however, I have also installed VMWare Workstation 8.0.2 and one of the new features of this version is the ability to connect to an ESX host or Virtual Center. Connecting through Workstation I was able to view the console of the remote VM’s.
VMWare should be able to fix this before Windows 8 release sometime later this year.
UPDATE: Install the latest vSphere Client 5.1 this will allow Windows 8 to manage your virtual infrastructure.
