Rules of Engagement Season 6 Episode 3

Tonight was the return of Rules of Engagement to the studio, and it’s better than ever.   This episode was filmed out of order because Wendi McLendon-Covey who portrays the character Liz is busy supporting the movie Bridesmaids.   We don’t see any of the other major guest cast members, such as Sarah Rue who plays Brenda,  just the main six characters.

This episode was written and directed by the shows creator Tom Hertz and still with season 6 this show does not disappoint.   We were given some back story about episodes 1 and 2 although they have not yet been filmed there are some details that needed to be revealed to have the timeline make sense.  And wow what info!  Lets just say alcohol is not Russel’s friend.

The cast’s performance was awesome (remember I really like the show)   Oliver Hudson portrays the vanity of Adam as we have seen in past episodes but this one hits a twist that both he and Adhir Kalyan could not contain themselves at times.  Speaking of Adhir, what a great addition he has been to the show.   His strait man character, Timmy, plays so well with any of the other characters on the show and tonight was to exception.  Lines between Timmy and either Adam or Russel were classic Rules of Engagement style.

Bianca Kajlich has gotten better and more comfortable each year playing Jennifer.  This episode Jennifer once again puts up with Adam’s goofiness.   Megyn Price, who portrays Audrey, showed her flexibility in this episode because she was limited for some time to no speaking lines, just hand motions and “looks” at her on screen husband, Jeff.

Finally my guy, the reason I go to the show, Patrick Warburton.   He plays the character Jeff.   Too often I have heard lines from Jeff and thought, hey wait a minute that is ME!  Tonight Patrick again gave the audience a great show, and added a few twists to the lines, that will probably not make it in the final cut, but the audience sure loved the V.R.S. line, thought I was going to fall out of my seat!

At one point in the taping there was a question on stage about wether to use a certain prop or not.   The audience came to life and Tom Hertz went with our cheers.  It is great how audiences help to shape the show right on the spot.

This episode may not air until October, but be sure not to miss it!
